Arkbound declares!

We're delighted to welcome Arkbound as new Business Declares member.

Here is their full declaration:

Arkbound Foundation, a registered charity and book publisher, has long supported meaningful action on the environment and embraced the target of zero emissions, which we achieved late last year with the planting of 1000 native oak saplings in Bristol to fully offset emissions from the production and delivery of our books.

Before this, we won a regional award for having all staff attend work via sustainable travel options — either by foot, bike or bus journey. Since 2015 we have supported writing and books that cover the environment, spanning illustrated children’s books like ‘Arcadia’ and reconnecting to nature books like ‘Natural Self’. Our work in 2021 will culminate with the publication of a landmark text, featuring 16 leading authors from around the world, that covers the theme of climate change and how we can adapt to it. This collaborative project, which unflinchingly takes the latest science, also presents models and methodologies that show what a zero waste, zero carbon and more equitable society can look like.

Further information can be found at arkbound.ac.uk/cop26-2020-2021-project — Arkbound welcomes further involvement with others.

Arkbound is a publisher that has social enterprise at its heart, trading on behalf of the Arkbound Foundation charity since 2017. They do this by publishing books (and magazines) that raise awareness of important social and environmental themes – both directly and indirectly. They also ensure that we use printing and supply methods that do not damage the environment.
