Support Project Salt Run with Business Declares

Business Declares are supporting Project Salt Run by organising a month of activity and fundraising centred on Sunday December 7th.

Hannah Cox, founder of the Better Business Network, is currently running 100 marathons in 100 days across India. The route retraces the Inland Customs Line, a colonial barrier built to enforce a devastating salt tax.

The challenge is an opportunity to revisit a forgotten chapter of history and use it to tell a story of change and hope. In addition it aims to raise £1 million for 1% for the Planet, Big Change, Frank Water and Client Earth.

Business Declares, a member of the Better Business Network, is supporting this challenge by mobilising its members and others to contribute, through communications and an activity challenge.

3. December 7th

What is it?

On Sunday the 7th of December we will listen to, and ask questions of, Hannah and hear her reactions as she sails past half-way. In addition we will engage with a speaker on the historical significance of the Salt Line and reflect on how things have evolved.

Ideally we will all be out and about as we listen and talk, adding kms to Climategames and having a massive conversation. We will be using Clubhouse, an audio-only social media app where users can host and join live, real-time conversations.

What to do

  1. Plan to be walking or running at midday on the 7th December, although you can join from your armchair if you must!

  2. Download the Clubhouse App on your phone via Apple's App or Google Play

OR use the QR code show here

  3. Then access our event “Big Convo with Hannah” here: clubhouse event link

  4. Click “add to cal”, share it, and turn up on the day!!

Why

  • We want our support efforts to focus on December 7th, and dialling into Hannah seems like a fabulous thing for us to do and hopefully inspiring for Hannah. Critically, we want to use this opportunity to reflect on the vicissitudes of colonisation and the extent to which they perpetuate.

  2. Invite them to join you on Climategames when you have the app, invite them to donate with the Givestar link above, invite them to participate on December 7th.
